She Absolutely NAILED it!

I had to watch. I heard the rumors all week, and I had to see if it was really going to happen. It DID, and she NAILED it! Tina Fey went on SNL last night to play Sarah Palin. The resemblance was dead on. The voice was dead on. It was HILARIOUS and amazing all at the same time. If you missed it, here it is. Be warned, the jokes are a little crude, but the impersonation is amazing. Amy Poehler is a hilarious Hillary Clinton, as usual!

Thursday's Random Thoughts

Back for another weekly installment of this week's random thoughts.

Today is September 11, 2008. It's been seven years since that devastating attack on U.S. soil. Lives were lost and families were affected forever. My prayers go out to all those who lost loved ones. My prayers go out to those who are serving and protecting our country from future attacks.

Today is September 11, 2008. It's been seven years since the attack. SEVEN years. Where was I when it happened? I was teaching my precious third graders. I had the greatest group of kids ever that year. It just hit me today that they are now 10th graders. 10th graders! My sweet little babies are in high school!!! Wow! I am sad about that. I'm sad that I live so far from Acworth, Georgia, and most likely, I'll never see any of them again. My prayers go out to those sweet kiddos and their futures. They were such special kids.

God really and truly is amazing. He is revealing so much to me right now. So much that I've looked past. I am thankful that He cares enough to show me the right way.

I wonder if Ash is going to stop all this fussing. It's funny how he can turn it off and on so quickly. Yep...just stopped. Amazing!

I am super thankful for Tristan's teacher and school this year. He is learning so much and loves going. What a blessing! All years haven't been as great as this one.

I've seen two people fall lately and didn't fall all over myself laughing. I'm making progress.

I realized yesterday that we made plans to go out to eat with friends on Saturday night. Saturday night...that's football. What was I thinking? Oh well. Good thing they're great friends, otherwise, I would have to reschedule. ;) Birmingham needs an ESPN Zone!

Speaking of football, my Bama team looked pretty awful last weekend. Glad I haven't been trash talking. Mom, I'm talking to you!

A pumpkin spice frappuccino sure sounds good right now. Why does Starbucks have to charge you the cost of a small country for one cup of joe?

It looks like rain today. YEA, YEA, YEA! I just love the rain. It's the most glorious weather!

I have a really great husband. I really really do. I often take him for granted. Thanks to my new Bible study, I'm realizing just how blessed I am. I hope I will take the time to appreciate him every day. He deserves it.

I guess scrunchies aren't back. I haven't seen anyone sport one since the Olympics. Drats!

This morning, like most, I went into Asher's room to get him out of bed and was greeted with some very familiar words..."Eat, eat". That's right, folks. The first thing on my little man's brain every morning is food! Gotta give a boy what he wants...
If you'll notice in this picture, there is no food in Mickey's ears. He was quick to point that out. Back to the counter I went......"That's more like it, Mom."

My Favorite Things

Sarah, over at Fiddledeedee, is hosting "My Favorite Things". I decided to join in on the fun this week.
I am choosing to highlight one of my all time favorite drinks...the Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino. My friend, Ashley, got me turned on to this fabulous drink last year, and now I LOVE it! Sad thing is, it's only available during the fall season.
I had pretty much forgotten about my PSF until today. Imagine my delight when I pulled into Starbucks this morning and found it on the menu! YIPPEE!!! Can I tell you, it made my Bible study this morning even greater?!

Thursday's Random Thoughts

Time again for another weekly installment of my random thoughts. Aren't you thrilled???

Sarah Palin is awesome. She really is. I admire her courage, determination, and drive. I cannot imagine going through the process that she is going through.

What does Blue Bell do to make their ice cream so delicious? It is the greatest ice cream ever! It really is. Ok, now I'm wanting some. On to the next thought.

Why are some tests so stinkin' hard to pass? Academically, I've faced some tough tests, but they don't compare to some of the spiritual tests I'm currently facing. I'm doing a Bible study right now that is really challenging me. I am asking God to show me areas of weakness, and He definitely is. He doesn't let up!

Will Alabama have a good season, or was last weekend just a one week thing? Can we beat some of the tough SEC teams? Is this the year to finally beat Auburn? I'm afraid to get too excited, but I am so full of hope!

If kids were free, and I didn't have to deal with pregnancy woes, I would have five, six kids. I LOVE big families! Sadly, kids aren't free, and I have to be pregnant to have babies. Guess we won't be having five or six. Probably three (maybe...a BIG maybe) four, but not five or six.

People still get perms. I had no idea. I take that back. I knew senior ladies got perms, I just didn't realize other people still got perms. I realized that when I was at the salon a few weeks ago. I guess I'll start analyzing people's curls from now on. Natural? Permed? Hmmmm....

Speaking of curls, I am often asked if Tristan's hair is naturally curly. I mean, are there people out there who perm their four-year old boys' hair? That seems really strange to me, but I'm asked so often that I have to wonder.

A Note to My Fellow Bama Fans

You may have already read in one of my previous posts, I listen to a lot of sports radio...well, I did anyway. I can't listen to it much anymore. As an Alabama fan, I welcome Bama news. I love to hear it; however, sports radio in Alabama drowns you in everything Bama. Ok, well not everything, mostly just obnoxious fans with terrible grammar and lots of naysayers. If I turn on Paul Finebaum's show one more time and hear a redneck Bama fan talk about how he has "all the inside scoop about who has been and who has not been practicing", or another fan call in and say, "Booyah" about last week's game, I'm gonna scream.

Now I understand why people who are fans of out of state teams think Bama fans are obnoxious. Many are! That's not to say that other teams don't have their obnoxious fans...they do. I guess it's just easier to notice when you hear so many Bama fans that seem to have never had a day of schooling in their life (though they have) and lack a lot of class. I want to duck in my seat when I hear some of these fans call in.

Bama fans, remember...class. Be proud of the win last weekend, but don't go buying your tickets to Miami just yet. There's a LONG season ahead of us, and we'll face many challenging opponents, namely in the SEC. As one of the reporters in the Birmingham News said this past weekend, SEC opponents won't curl up in a ball and give in the way Clemson did. Most of those teams fight to the end. Please remember that. AND like I said in a previous post, if you're a "Saturday Shopper", don't trash talk at all. If you don't know what a first down is or the name of any player besides Julio Jones or John Parker Wilson, just stay zipped. You'll save the rest of us a lot of grief. Mom, I'm talking to you!

One more thing, it is incredibly embarrassing to me as an Alabama fan, to hear a crowd full of fans chant "overrated" to a strong opponent with a high ranking. Think about it, people. Clemson was ranked #9 in the nation. We were #24. We beat a #9 team. Shouldn't you be thinking:

Hmmm...we're pretty good! Yeah, we're darn good!

You should be thinking that. You should walk with some pride in your stride, not chant "overrated" which basically means my high school could have come in and beaten Clemson. Bama fans did the same thing when we stomped Florida a few years back. I was at that game too. It was just as embarrassing then as it was this past Saturday. Seriously, people. Think about that the next time you want to shout "overrated" at a strong opponent. You are not only belittling them but also your team as well. In my eyes, Clemson was a powerful opponent that we battled and overcame. They were not overrated, we were underrated.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
