To Whip or Not to Whip

I bet you thought I was talking about spanking kids, right? Well, I'm not. I'm talking about something else very important...I'm talking about enjoying your favorite Starbucks beverage. To whip or not to whip, that is the question...the question I had a couple of days ago when I decided to check out the calorie difference in a light (skim milk, no whipped cream) pumpkin spice frappucino (my absolute fav Starbucks beverage) versus a regular (whipped cream and regular milk). Now let me say that ever since I found out you could do a light version (it was only a year or so ago. I learned from one of my more knowledgeable Starbucks friends), I have stuck with it; however, I've often wondered if it was worth giving up the yummy whipped cream. Let me tell you, IT IS! Check out what I found out:

A Grande Pumpkin Spice Frappucino with whip:
Calories: 400
Fat Calories: 130
Total grams of fat: 15
Saturated Fat (g): 9
Sodium (mg): 280
Carbohydrates (g): 62
Sugar (g): 53

Okay...400 CALORIES! 130 FAT CALORIES! 15 GRAMS OF FAT! WHOA!!!

Now check out the no-whip version:

Calories: 290
Fat Calories: 30
Total grams of fat: 3.5
Saturated Fat (g): 2
Sodium (mg): 260
Carbohydrates (g): 59
Sugar (g): 51

In terms of calories, fat calories, fat grams and saturated fat...HUGE difference. ENORMOUS!
I definitely think I'll stick with my light version. The whip doesn't taste that much better.
