That's right. Our family doesn't like Auburn orange, and we certainly don't like Tennessee orange. Most of all, I'm no fan of Lane Kiffin (but we'll save that rant for another day).
Today was a big day...Alabama vs. Tennessee. Our family (minus Channing) got ready early. We had to sport our Tide-wear all day. Check out my little Tiders!Isn't Rhiannon's onesie adorable?!? It was designed by one of my very best friends, Leisha. She's so creative! Thanks, Leisha!!!
Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE my baby girl??? If not, let me mention it now. I sure do love this baby girl! I think she is the sweetest, funniest, most beautiful and perfect little girl in the world. Of course, I'm not at all biased. :)
Here's my sweet Asher. He doesn't like to look at the camera. Clearly, by looking at this picture, you can see Asher thinks today is Georgia Bulldogs day. He's doing his best Uga impersonation. :)And here's my sweet Tristan. I don't know if it's the age, but he is totally into making faces every time I ask him to smile. He always has some new and crazy pose for me. This was his post at breakfast (Hardees...a special treat. You know...we just wanted to be super healthy this morning).
I hope you watched the game. If you did, did your heart stop like mine did?!? COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! I'm still trying to recover. ROLL TIDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Game Day~ Our Weekend in Athens Part 2
THE CELL PHONE PICTURE EDITION
We had a great time in Athens, well, until the game anyway. The outcome wasn't quite what we'd hoped. LSU ended up winning (UGH!), so that was kind of a dark spot on our trip. Other than that, everything was perfect! Here are some more tailgating shots:
Here is my little football player. One of our tailgating traditions...football in the parking lot. Tristan was ready!Tristan played lots of football, and Asher did what Asher loves to do...he ATE!!! Can you tell what he's saying? Yep...CHEESE!
Rhi getting very sleeeeeeeeepy...
She decided to catch a little shut eye:
Tristan taking a break:
Later that day...
This is what became of Rhiannon's game day outfit:Crazy boy!
After all our tailgate fun, it was time to go watch the Dawgs play! Here are some shots from the game:
Uncle Ryan and Mary Ryan. I can't tell you how much my boys love MRK! Not only is she a beautiful little girl, but she's lots of fun too. She and Tristan have a lot of fun together. It's such a blessing to have a cousin your same age, just ask Tristan. Not only do they have fun together, she's always super sweet to Asher and Rhiannon. I sure love this little girl! Her daddy's lots of fun too! We think we'll keep him... most of the time. ;)
Channing and Asher watching the game. Asher was most excited about seeing the drums. With Georgia's season, that may have been the most exciting part. :( The Dawgs will make a comeback....just maybe not this season?
Eating, of course! This time, it was cotton candy. During halftime, the kids enjoyed some STICKY cotton candy. What a mess it turned out to be! It didn't bother them, though. They enjoyed every single bite!
Sweet cousins...clearly enjoying their cotton candy!
Asher finally had enough excitement (and sugar) and crashed.
That was our game day. Georgia lost, I had to take the kids to the bathroom about 100 times (which really made us popular with the fans sitting around us), they loaded up on sugar, and Tristan complained a bit, but still, it was a blast! We got to hang out with family, eat great food, watch one of our favorite teams (of course, it's Channing's favorite team), and wear red (always a great color~much better than the opposing team's purple...ugh!). All in all, GREAT trip!!!

It's Like Christmas!
Ok, so don't get all legalistic on me. Obviously what is going on today can, in no way, hold a candle to the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Obviously. However, I felt the need to throw that out there because I am aware that there are those who believe that if you are an avid football fan, you must not get excited about the Lord. Ok, if you're one of those people, please don't be one of those people. It is possible to love Jesus and to get excited about football. Ok, that was my soapbox. Now for some fun!
Today, my good friends, Chris, Lee, and Kirk, make a comeback (so, in my head, we're good friends). Oh how I've missed them! I even miss Lee picking our team and forcing the Tide to climb a mountain to fight that bad karma. ;) I've missed the crazy fans, the even crazier outfits (I mean, seriously, what is it about football that makes grown men dress like some kind of crazy fanatics in clothes that they wouldn't dream of wearing otherwise?), the coin toss, seeing crimson running onto the field, the tackles, the passes, the fakes, the kicks, the yells, the cheers, the food. I've missed it all! Finally, today is the day. It's gameday, people! Today, the Tide takes on the Hoakies in the Georgia Dome. I was at the Georgia Dome last year when Alabama completed shocked the masses and deflated Clemson's dreams of a year at the top. I was there for the excitement and the free Chick-fil-A chicken strip coupons. This year, though, I'll be watching it from home. That's ok. I am just pumped to watch!!! I am proud of my Tide, no matter what happens. I'm proud of the Hoakies too. I'm proud that these two teams, two top 10 ranked teams, agreed to play each other in their opening game. I mean, it takes guts, right? No cupcakes in Atlanta today!
Speaking of brave, I have to hand it to Georgia and Oklahoma State too. They're throwing out the cushy first game to play each other so that we, football fans, can see some real excitement on opening Saturday. GO DAWGS!!! It just so happens that, at our house, we are UA fans and UGA fans.
Here's to hoping the Tide and the Dawgs pull it out today. Both teams have had to deal with the flu. UGH! Alabama has also had other obstacles including a player who was shot and some NCAA investigations. CRAZY! Hoping we'll overcome it, anyway. Too, we're hoping we'll overcome Lee, and he'll go with the Hoakies and Oklahoma State!
Happy Gameday, everyone!!!

No More Sulking
Yes, I'm disappointed. You may be too. Barack Obama was not, is not, my ideal candidate for president of the United States. Thing is, it doesn't matter. America has spoken, and for better or for worse, he will be our next president. So I am committing to pray for him and for his family. I hope you will too. Let's lay our differences aside and submit to him the way that God directs us to in His Word.
Today, I am moving on. I refuse to spend time sulking and stating over and over again that God is in control and that He is sovereign. Yes, He is both. I have committed it to memory. I just refuse to continue to sulk and to bash Obama and his crazy policies (ooops! Sorry! I'm really going to stop). Today, I am choosing to focus on something that brings me more joy...
ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE FOOTBALL!!!That's right, folks. Alabama football has been keeping this state excited this year. They are currently 9-0 and are the #1 team in the nation. It's just the right kind of excitement for me. This weekend, the Tide will travel to Baton Rouge to take on the corndogs...oops! I mean, the Tigers. If they beat the Tigers, as I hope they will, they will seal their spot in the SEC championship game in Atlanta. How exciting is that?!
I must admit, I am quite nervous about this game. There are many reasons the corndogs (man! I mean Tigers) want to beat us. #1. We have their coach. They love 'em some Nick Saban and are still bitter that he left them for the NFL, only to end up at a rival school. Tigers, get over it! He looks better in crimson anyway. #2. We're the #1 team in the nation. Who wouldn't want to beat us? #3. Our team colors are more (ok, way more) appealing than LSU's. Purple and gold (they say it's gold. I say it's yellow)? Hideous!
Combine those reasons with the fact that LSU has been stomped by Georgia and Florida, and you'll see why they really want to win. You see, their team (a mediocre LSU team) won the national championship last year...with two losses. They've already copied their two losses, and they're hoping Bama won't make it three this weekend. One thing's for sure, though, they won't be going to any national championships this year...unless they've got a ticket.
So this weekend, I'll be nervously watching the Tide take on the Tigers in Baton Rouge. I'm sure there will be lots of yelling, but I can't imagine a more fun day!
What's bring you joy in the midst of all the chaos?

In Athens to Cheer on the Dawgs
Last weekend, we made the journey to Athens to watch the Dawgs take on the Vols. It was our first, and probably our last, Georgia game of the year. With Channing's work schedule and Tristan's soccer schedule, we haven't been able to get out of town much.
Our first stop last weekend was at Dr. Huppert's chiropractic office. Channing worked in Dr. Huppert's office the first year after he got out of chiropractic school. It was a long drive from Marietta, Georgia.
As you can see in the picture below, Tristan had a blast playing in the leaves. I guess since we don't have many leaves in our yard, he has to get them when he can.My sweet boy!
After our visit with Dr. Huppert, Tristan was ready to do his favorite thing in Athens...play on the "little football field" aka the practice field. Every trip to Athens has at least one trip to the little field. Here are Channing and Tristan playing some football:
Ash had his own game goin' on:
I got this shot of Tristan at the top of a hill at the practice field. I just thought it looked kind of cool:
Me and my boy. He's definitely my momma's boy! Oh, notice he's eating Asher's baby snack. He loves banana puffs!
Ash with his football, or as he calls it...B ball!
Channing's parents stay in the same hotel as UGA VII (and the UGAs before him), so it's always fun to be on the hunt to see him. Here's his owner's car tag. You know you're an important dog when your owner's car pays tribute to you:
YEA, SCORE! An UGA VII encounter!!! This couldn't have been more perfect for Asher. He is puppy obsessed right now. If I hear the word puppy once, I hear it a thousand times a day!!! The boy LOVED seeing UGA.
Puppy!
The next day, we ran into Hairy Dog. Since Hairy Dog is a dog, Asher was THRILLED! I couldn't get him to look at the camera because he was way too fixated on the mascot.-
Here's a typical brother shot. It's almost impossible to get a picture of them together...a decent one anyway. Oh brotherly love and tailgating...what's better than that?
Asher and I opted out of going in the game. Instead, we went back to the hotel for some naptime and playtime. Oh, and of course for snacks!!!
We had a great weekend in Athens. Georgia won! Florida won (the Tigers went down!), Auburn lost...GREAT weekend packed full of great football!!!

My Favorite Fan Sign
Last Saturday, I shared my favorite fan sign. It was from the Alabama/Georgia game and was made by a Georgia fan...
Nick, we need gas money!
This week, my favorite sign came via a Vandy fan...
The geeks shall inherit the turf.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it!!!
Way to go, Vandy! Awesome win!!!
The Tide rolled too...just really slowly, really crookedly (is that a word?). They won, but just barely. They certainly didn't look like the team who dominated Georgia last week. Yeah, I hope they get that fixed. Oh well. A "W" is a "W", right? ROLL TIDE!!! 6-0!!!

Something's Wrong With This Picture
Saturday was a big day for our family. We had bunches going on...
The day started with a soccer game, followed by lunch at Chick-fil-A, a trip to the Whistle Stop Festival where Channing was working, and then of course, SEC COLLEGE FOOTBALL!
While at the festival, I was able to listen to some of the Auburn/Tennessee game, but once it was over, I actually got to go home and watch the end.
Then...the BIG game...the Alabama/Georgia game. It was HUGE at our house because Channing is a big Georgia fan, and I, as you probably already know, am a big Bama fan. The house was sure to be filled with tension. You already know how the game turned out , so I'll just tell you more about the festival and Chick-fil-A.
While we were at Chick-fil-A, Tristan was sporting his Bama t-shirt and Georgia hat (we try to be fair and balanced...like Fox News). A lady eating saw him and made the comment, "Something's wrong with this picture." I explained to her our situation, and she said, "Someone's not going to be happy at your house tonight." Prophetic statement, perhaps? Nah, just stating the obvious.
Here's my cute little confused fan (oh, and he pulled for Bama, if you're wondering. It's only a matter of time, though, before he makes the switch):The back view:
Asher was a straight up Bama fan. Roll Tide! I love to hear him say it. Although he may say "Roll Tide!", he says "football" whenever he hears the word "Georgia" or sees a Georgia "G" or a bulldog. It's the funniest thing. We didn't train him to do that. He just knows that usually when we're talking about Georgia, we're talking football.
He had so much fun in the jumping bean at the festival.
One more shot of my sweet Georgia/Alabama fan:
I'm probably a terrible mom for posting this, but it's just the funniest picture. Check out Asher's feet...pre-fall!
Saturday was a super great day!!!
