T-Ball Has Begun!

The time has finally come...Tristan has started t-ball!!! He's been looking forward to playing for a while, so it couldn't have come soon enough. We went to Academy Sports last weekend and loaded him up on all the supplies a pro t-baller needs. Of course, as soon as he got home, he had to test it all out. Daddy and PaPa were happy to oblige.
Notice he didn't even take the time to get out of his church clothes. He got home, got his gear, and headed out to the back yard.
Gettin' ready! Here he is getting some instruction from Daddy and PaPa.
Practicing catching ground balls.
"No, Daddy, you're supposed to be over there!"
Time for batting practice. Daddy had to step in for a little hands-on instruction. A t-baller must have perfect form! He swings....IT'S OUTTA HERE!!! HOME RUN!Saturday brought the real excitement, though. It was his very first day at t-ball practice with his team, The Cardinals. One cool thing about his team is that he gets to wear Georgia colors, red shirt and black pants (that's cool to him and his Daddy, anyway). Also, he's going to be #10, just like his Daddy was when he played sports growing up. That's neat because I had a t-shirt quilt made from all of Channing's team shirts, and if Tristan has one made one day, I think it would be neat that they would have the same player number (I know, cheesy.). I'm a mom, what can I say?
Here is Tristan with a couple of his teammates and Coach David. Coach David was having them throw the ball at a target. Tristan did really great with this exercise. He hit the bullseye most of the time; pretty good for a three year old!Coach David told him to make sure he steps as he throws. That's something we have to keep practicing. Here he is stepping while throwing. In true Tristan-style, he has to act like a crazy man after his turn is over. I guess it's a boy thing. Or maybe it's just a Tristan thing. See the target in the background? The black dot is the bullseye. Here's a sweet picture of him and another little boy on the team waiting for some more instruction. Next up...batting practice! Hitting off a tee is something we have to work on. We pitched it to him for a while, and he did great with that. Going back to the tee has been a little bit of a learning curve, but he's doing great.
Here is Coach Keith helping him get into the proper batting stance. How sweet is that? He's just so little!
This wasn't one of his greatest hits, but it's a hit nonetheless. So far, t-ball has been great. I think this is going to be much more his pace than soccer (he didn't like fighting for the ball in soccer). He really enjoyed the first practice and loves to get out in the backyard for some practice with Daddy. He hasn't scored MVP just yet, but I know it's coming! ;) Barry Bonds who???
One thing we have to remember next week...a hat! What kind of baseball player goes to practice without a hat. Great job, Mom!

I love Tristan's game face. He is so serious. Ready to learn. We want to see him play. Let us know when he has a game.
