Summer Shoes

It's that time again...time to be stocking up on summer shoes. For the past three summers, Tristan has donned Crocs the whole season. Each year, he's had multiple colors to choose from: tan, brown, red, blue, navy... As is usual each summer, Tristan has outgrown all his summer shoes from last year. That leaves me with a big decision...what style of shoe(s) do I get him for this year? I love Crocs because they're just so stinkin' easy. There are no laces to tie, he can pick out a pair and easily get them on, they can be thrown in the washing machine, they're breathable...they're just plain simple.

Thing is, the bigger the Croc, the less cute they are. I mean, when he was two, they were PRECIOUS! His little tiny Crocs on his little tiny feet were too cute for words. They were so great back then because he had such puffy feet that it was hard to get regular sandals on him. Crocs were an easy fit. Now he wears a big size, and I'm worried he'll look silly with big 'ole Crocs on.

So what do I do? Do I go with the convenience and ease of Crocs even though they aren't as cute as they were a couple of years back? Or do I go with something else? What else is there? What is your boy going to be wearing this spring/summer? Asher is easy. I'll get him some Crocs and some little brown sandals (I have a favorite kind of sandal for him). Easy. He's still got cute tiny feet.
Rachel, these are what I like for Asher. He had a pair last year, and they were just so cute and so easy. I love them! They are Sea Wee saltwater sandals:
But what do I do about my big boy?
What is your son going to be sporting this spring and summer season?

You named it, sister. Crocs for school, tennis shoes (or soccer cleats) for play and brown nice sandals for church! That's ALL!!! I still do Crocs and Owen is in a size 12/13. WILD!
I love them, too! I just can't go there for myself...

My older boys usually do flip flops all summer long. I get them from Old Navy, 2 for $5 and they have all colors and designs! I also like Nike sandals with straps if they'll be running or walking a longer distance. I just love flip flops though, they're so easy and the boys really seem to like them. That's what I live in all summer as well.

Gotta' say I am NOT a croc fan. (Sorry world!) Not that I'm a fashionista but I prefer flip flops or boat shoes for summer foot attire for my boys. ;) Yes, the boat shoes do bring a funk, but you can limit their use and it's not too bad. That's just the price you pay for cuteness. Ha!

My son wears the sketcher brand shoe that looks like a Croc. They have more of a back on the shoe but they are still slip on. I think they are cuter than Crocs and he wears a size 1. We also do flip flops from Old Navy. We love the cloth ones.

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one stressing about summer shoes! I was just wondering if crocs were still going to be "in" this summer. I love crocs! They are so easy! Last year S&E had flip flops that I liked too. I think this year we are going to upgrade to the next size of crocs. We always go with brown because they match almost everything. I've also been on the lookout for a good deal on some brown boat shoes.

I love the sandals in the pic! I will keep those in mind for J this year. We had a horrible time last year finding shoes for him. For M it has always been harder because she has that extra toe on her left foot. Sandals are so much easier for her when they have the adjustable strap on the toes as well as on the ankle. She is learning how to tie her shoes, whereas J is still a long way away from that. Crocs have never fit either one of mine, M says they hurt I think because her extra toe gets caught in one of the holes.

I was just thinking about what in the world Gabe was going to wear this summer! Last year, we had these great pair of brown Stride Rite sandals (hand me downs, of course!) He wore them almost every day! But, this summer, he's going to be doing a lot more running and playing, so I need some play shoes too. I'm sorry to all the croc lovers out there, I just can't do it! Well, I say I won't, but if I get desperate enough, I just might! I do LOTS of things I said I never would now that I'm a momma!! Target has some adorable "deck" or "boat" shoes. I'm sure they get stinky, but that's why they make Febreze!!
