Help Me Understand

Ok, so I don't get it. Why do people have to talk on their phones at the gym? I honestly and truly do not understand. Who are you people talking to? Is it really that pressing? I'm not asking because it bothers me or disturbs my workout, I just really don't understand it. Every time I'm in the gym, I see at least five people talking or texting on their cell phones. It baffles me. I mean, I just want to get in, get focused on my workout, feel the burn, and get out. I don't want to talk to anyone while I'm huffing it on the eliptical trainer...I really don't. How can you carry on a conversation when sweat is running down your face, and you're breathing all heavy?

I'm guessing these "gym phone addicts" are probably people who are never without their cell phones. Maybe that's why I don't understand this phenomenon. I'm not huge on the cell phone. I have one but often forget it or lose it. I'm not big on phones in general, so I guess that's why I would never consider taking my cell phone into the gym.

Anyway, I just got home from the gym and had this on my mind. If you're a gym phone addict, please fill me in. Enlighten me, if you will. I want to understand.

This drives me nuts too. I mean what is that important. Once or twice maybe but everyday? I did take mine one day when I was expecting a call from our pediatrician but it never rang. I also don't like it when people talk so loud you can hear them over your ipod. There is one guy at our gym, we call him "loud talker". I see him coming and I turn up my music. Can't a girl just enjoy (haha) a workout?

I know someone like that. She has the phone constantly glued to her ear no matter where she is.

I may have to put this in the same category of "Why must you carry your dog with you everywhere you go?!" I mean....dog strollers...dog slings....Come on, people!

okay, i am guilty= although it's ONLY been since noah's been here and it's because i leave right when i put him down for his nap to get the most work out time in, so i am usually texting nate to see if he has fallen asleep and if i get a NO, i am usually sending nate a million "try this" texts!

yes i know... first time mom...

Brandi, I LOVE "loud talker". HILARIOUS!!! I love how you and Shane always have nicknames for people. :):):)

Leisha, yeah, I can't quite get into the whole taking your dog everywhere thing. I guess for some people, they're like kids. I don't know. It's not my thing. :)

Rachel, you CRACK me up! You are such a hands-on mom. You keep it up. That just goes to show me that some people are actually doing something important on their phones...at the gym. ;)

No, but today I was at the gym, and a lady stayed on her phone for AT LEAST 45 minutes! I got on the treadmill, and she was on the stair-stepper talking on her cell phone. I ran for 15 minutes (still talking), got off, checked out aerobics, came back, got some water, did the eliptical for 20 minutes, got some water, went to the bathroom, washed my hands and went to my car. As I was backing out, she was walking to her car...still on her cell phone! I mean, that just blows my mind. Who is she talking to? I think it is so funny, yet strange. The whole concept is so foreign to me. :)

And Nicole, you know I love you! Thanks for reading!!!

the funny thing to me is their willingness to air all their "dirty laundry" on their phone in public. the things people will talk about in front of strangers...i'm like "geez" that is WAY too much info people.
